Résumé

Subsistent de fortes résistances et des craintes liées à l’idée d’une éducation sexuelle pour des personnes présentant un retard mental associé à une symptomatologie psychiatrique.

Malgré ceci, le groupe « Hommes-Femmes » a pu être créé, animé par trois soignants et constitué par cinq patients (hommes et femmes), dès l’ouverture de la nouvelle structure d’Hôpital de Jour début 1999 et qui se poursuit actuellement. Ce groupe répond aux besoins urgents d’assistance de certains de nos patients, toutes pathologies confondues, concernant des préoccupations d’ordre sexuel, n’ayant jamais pu être abordées ni traitées auparavant. Le droit légitime à une information en matière d’éducation sexuelle, quel que soit le niveau de gravité du retard mental de la personne apparaît donc clairement. Un des buts de ce groupe a été de prévenir certains comportements « à risque » pouvant les mettre en danger, conduisant notamment à des dérapages : grossesse non désirée, abus sexuels, avortement, maladies sexuellement transmissibles, etc. Ce groupe psycho-éducatif, à visée réhabilitative a pu, après un an, malgré les difficultés de départ, dépasser le tabou lié à l’évocation de certains mots (masturbation, désir) ceci au niveau des patients, mais aussi des soignants. L’évolution vers une plus grande liberté d’expression a été notable. Les patients ont pu amener progressivement et spontanément leur point de vue, concernant le désir d’enfant, le mariage, la séduction, la grossesse…

Abstract

It exist again some important resistances and fears connected to a sexual education for persons with mental retardation, associated with psychiatric symptomatology.

In spite of that the « Men-Women » group was born. It is leaded by 3 therapists and it’s composed of 5 patients (men and women), starting from the opening of the new « Day Hospital » in 1999. This group gives a therapeutical answer to the urgent needs of care in patients presenting different severe psychiatric pathologies. The « Men-Women » group targets sexual preoccupations little or never approached or treated before. The legitimate right to obtain the information about sexual education, no matter the degree of intellectual disability clearly appeared. One of the aim of this group is to prevent behavioural troubles and « at risk attitudes » : unplanified pregnancy, sexual abuses, abortion, transmissible sexual diseases, and so one. This psycho educational group offers an effective rehabilitative approach in spite of starting difficulties, linked to the taboo of the simple evocation of sexual words, (masturbation, desire) which was present among patients but also among the therapists. The evolution of general attitudes towards a larger freedom of expression has been notable among patients themselves. They were able to bring very progressively and spontaneously their point of view, concerning child desire, marriage, seduction, pregnancy…
