Social Policy and Families with a Child with a Disability: An Analysis of the Situation in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec

Cette étude s’intéresse aux familles où vivent des enfants en situation de handicap, particulièrement aux politiques sociales destinées à soutenir ces familles dans leur vie quotidienne : en Alberta, en Ontario et au Québec. Un inventaire des lois, politiques et types d’aide financière a été réalisé. La communication portera sur des données recueillies et analysées en fonction du contexte de chaque province, des caractéristiques propres à l'organisation de services ainsi que des conditions de maintien à domicile de l’enfant concerné.

Abstract

This study focuses on families with children with disabilities, particularly on social policies designed to support these families in their daily lives: in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. An inventory of legislation, policies and types of financial assistance was conducted. The presentation will focus on data collected and analyzed according to the context of each province, the specific characteristics of the service organization and the conditions for keeping the child in the home.
